All about the babies and a little more! The days are long but the years are short.
Mothers are often not celebrated enough and one day is most certainly a gross injustice to commemorate all that they do. We don't do mothers’ day in our culture but I wanted to share the lessons of two mothers whose children’s paths crossed.
My mother was thrown into the cockpit of a thunderously turbulent ride in her youth but she chose to take hold of her challenges by the horns. MA! She was strong and unstoppable and didn’t let it break her Alhamdelillah. I may not say it often enough mama, but I love you and value everything you do for me. Every good thing we are, is because of your long lectures and strict routine. You never missed reciting ayatul Qursi for us every single night even when you were so tired that you could barely stand. While dad was supportive in every possible way, you were the pivot that stood us through the tough times, and may Allah always keep you blessed in every single way. :)
The second story is about Mummy. Mummy is how we lovingly referred to my late MIL although while she was alive she got very few chances to be one. She was put through tough situation after tough situation… Many times she came so close to giving up but kept going. She lost her husband; she had to let go of her children. She lost her vision, she lost control of her fingers, she hid her tears, she smiled through it all… She was jolly and jovial and a sweet soul that left us too soon. While we miss her, she is always in our duas and memories! I will remember to smile even when it's hard, because of her.
Motherhood is the most underrated profession in the world… yet it is one that is the most valuable to every human being. To all the sweet mamas out there - we need to cry it out but keep going… Much love and joy!
